A new generation intercom system that integrates video, audio, and access control into a single device was recently unveiled by Duxbury Networking, an official distributor of Axis Communications in South and sub-Saharan Africa.

Built on 2N technology and available as Axis-branded original-equipment manufacturer models, the new models are fully compatible with the broader Axis surveillance stack and Milestone’s video management software.

The new portfolio includes four models, built to meet the needs of specific security environments:

• AXIS I5304: A 7” network answering unit suited for reception areas. Designed for easy call handling and door control, it features video and two-way communication with built-in Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) and Power over Ethernet (PoE) support.
• AXIS I8307-VE: An outdoor-rated intercom featuring a customisable 7” touchscreen, integrated Radio-Frequency Identification (RFID) reader, and a 4K camera. Built on Axis' ARTPEC-8 chipset, it also includes deep learning analytics and Axis Edge Vault cybersecurity.
• AXIS I8016-LVE: A compact unit, built to be vandal-resistant, and rated IK10/IP69. Ideal for exposed or high-risk sites. It offers 5 MP resolution, infrared radiation night vision, and SIP integration aimed at delivering seamless communication in any condition.
• AXIS A8207-VE Mk II: Offers a 6 MP wide-angle camera, dual microphones, RFID multi-frequency reader, and support for HID iCLASS. With onboard analytics, audio detection, and tamper alarms, it is recommended for enterprise-grade deployments.

The new devices enable visual verification, secure entry, and remote management from a single platform. They support PoE for simple installation and integrate natively with Axis and Milestone infrastructures. Cybersecurity is also an important consideration and features such as signed firmware, secure boot, and hardware-based secure key storage have been built into select models.
